چکیده

In this article we analyse a fully discrete approximation to the time dependent viscoelasticity equations allowing for multicomponent fluid flow. The Oldroyd B constitutive equation is used to model the viscoelastic stress. For the discretization, time derivatives are replaced by backward difference quotients, and the non-linear terms are linearized by lagging appropriate factors. The modeling equations for the individual fluids are combined into a single system of equations using a continuum surface model. The numerical approximation is stabilized by using a SUPG approximation for the constitutive equation. Under a small data assumption on the true solution, existence of the approximate solution is proven. A priori error estimates for the approximation in terms of the mesh parameter h, the time discretization parameter ∆t, and the SUPG coefficient ν are also derived. Numerical simulations of viscoelastic fluid flow involving two immiscible fluids are also presented.

Numerical simulation of the fluid dynamics in a 3D spherical model of partially liquefied vitreous due to eye movements under planar interface conditions

Partially liquefied vitreous humor is a common physical and biochemical degenerative change in vitreous body which the liquid component gets separated from collagen fiber network and leads to form a region of liquefaction. The main objective of this research is to investigate how the oscillatory motions influence flow dynamics of partial vitreous liquefaction (PVL). So far computational fluid d...

A fractional step θ-method for viscoelastic fluid flow using a SUPG approximation

In this article a fractional step θ-method is described and studied for the approximation of time dependent viscoelastic fluid flow equations, using the Johnson-Segalman constitutive model. The θ-method implementation allows the velocity and pressure approximations to be decoupled from the stress, reducing the number of unknowns resolved at each step of the method. The constitutive equation is ...

A fractional step θ-method approximation of time-dependent viscoelastic fluid flow

A fractional step θ-method for the approximation of time dependent viscoelastic fluid flow equations, is described and analyzed in this article. The θ-method implementation allows the velocity and pressure updates to be resolved separately from the stress, reducing the number of unknowns resolved at each step of the method. A streamline upwinded Petrov-Galerkin (SUPG)-method is used to stabiliz...

Time-space Dependent Fractional Viscoelastic Mhd Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer over Accelerating Plate with Slip Boundary

The magnetohydrodynamic(MHD) flow and heat transfer of viscoelastic fluid over an accelerating plate with slip boundary are investigated. Different from most classical works, a modified time-space dependent fractional Maxwell fluid model is proposed in depicting the constitutive relationship of the fluid. Numerical solutions are obtained by explicit finite difference approximation and exact sol...

Numerical Simulation of Micropolar Flow in a Channel under Osciatory Pressure Gradient

We numerically investigate the pulsatile flow and heat transfer of a micropolar fluid through a Darcy-Forchhmeir porous channel in the presence of wall transpiration. We use the central difference approximations for the spatial derivatives, whereas the time integration has been performed by employing the three steps explicit Runge-Kutta method to obtain the numerical solution. It i...
